Idea | The love of flowers
Love is a beautiful thing. Too often we wait to receive love from others in order to experience it. Yet, it’s the other way around. If you want to feel love, give it.
When was the last time you gave someone flowers other than a dozen roses on Valentine’s Day or your anniversary? If you haven’t, do it today. Get some flowers - not roses or lilies, something like daisies - and give them to someone you love. Don’t be shy, just do it.
Sharing love breathes oxygen into our souls for the giver and the receiver.
Book | “Noah”
As I understand it, this graphic novel (“Noah” by Darren Aronofsky, Author, Ari Handel, Author, Niko Henrichon, Artist) was based on the screenplay for the movie - a precursor. For those who have seen the movie, I recommend giving this graphic novel a look. It’s beautifully made.
Now, don’t expect the story to follow the Genesis account. The author took a lot of creative licenses. Yet, it got me thinking… what do we really know about the story of Noah?
There’s a lot to talk about with this book/movie - surely some debating and rousing discourse would ensue. And that’s one of the reasons why I recommend it. I doubt it’ll challenge your theology but it may challenge your preconceptions.
Video | “Eli Manning goes undercover as a College Football walk-on”
What does it take to be a walk-on football player at a major university? There are no guarantees. It’s a ton of work. The whole process is an uphill battle. Seeing a group of guys pour their hearts and souls into a dream is truly inspiring. Of course, watching Eli Manning mess with them is great too.
Even as a goofy character, Manning’s leadership skills emerge. Manning's alter-ego “Chad Powers” is confident in his abilities and, at the same time, has to give himself and his teammates encouragement throughout the process. It sounds funny, but it’s actually endearing.
Watch until the end. It’s beautiful.
Self-Care | Get rest when you are sick
Inspiration is a tricky thing. It usually comes to us when things are in harmony in our lives - like a John Williams soundtrack playing just for us. Conversely, when we are in disharmony with any aspect of our lives, we can “tune out.”
Sickness is disharmony. When you’re ill, you lose your zest. In times of sickness, you spend your efforts minimizing discomfort and alleviating painful symptoms. Forging ahead in your endeavors is placed on the back burner as you fend off nausea and whatnot.
When you get sick, rest. Don’t try to tough it out. Be still. Be calm. Let others take care of you or, at least, take care of yourself. Sleep. Breath slowly. Pray. Wellness will return along with harmony. Then inspiration will visit again.
