Hello, fellow Oddballer!
In the annals of oddness, Bigfoot is one of the big players. No doubt about that! And whether you believe in him (or her), you gotta admit that Bigfoot as an oddity is here to stay. Check out some Bigfoot lore in #3 below. And, if you haven’t already, please subscribe.
As always, links are in bold and underlined. Have fun with those. So, without further ado, here are five oddballs for your eyeballs!
Walking Trees
Do you remember the walking trees (i.e., “Ents”) from “Lord of the Rings”? It may be possible that such trees exist! And while they may not be walking like bipeds, they sure do look like they’re moving. Click here to see the video.
Plants move, we know that. How they do it is for botanists to know and for us to consider magic. And while I don’t believe that trees can walk on their roots like legs, I like the idea of them moving on their own. It’s weird and fun!
Time Travel Back to the 1920s
Time travel doesn’t exist; at least not that we’re aware of. Yet, we do have something akin to time travel… video. Back before any form of motion picture technology or photos, the only way to view the past was through art or spoken word. Now, we can actually see the past. A good example is this video of the 1920s, colorized:
It’s almost unbelievable to see actual footage of life during this point in time. It seems like CGI. Everybody in the video has no doubt passed away so you’re watching a bunch of ghosts. How does that strike you?
Bigfoot Discovery Museum
One of the kids in the class I’m working in asked me what my favorite animal was. I said, “Bigfoot.” She chuckled but I was serious. I’m not an enthusiast, but I do love Bigfoot. Did you know there’s a Bigfoot museum, aptly named the “Bigfoot Discovery Museum?” It’s not The Met, but it is a museum nonetheless.
I’m listening to the audiobook “Zombie Bigfoot,” written and narrated by Nick Sullivan. The oddest thing about the book is that it’s really good, not cheesy as one may assume from the title. Then again, I love Bigfoot so I’m biased.
Amazing Abandoned Dragon Waterpark
Check out this great structure! From what I understand, it’s an abandoned waterpark in Vietnam. Click here to see the post on Instagram.
One would think that something like this would be such an attraction that it would stay in business forever. The scale, as understood by the tiny people in the picture, is insanely large. What happened here? All I can say is that this is much more intriguing than a mere waterslide.
Baby Shark Snorkel Mask, Do-Do-Do-Do-Do-Do 🎵
Here’s a twist on the age-old technology of the snorkel tube. It’s an entire mask. What a brilliant idea! Of course, I have absolutely no use for something like this since I live in San Antonio and the closest large body of water is the Gulf of Mexico off of Corpus Cristi, and needless to say, that’s primo snorkel waters. Still, this mask is an amazing, albeit odd concept.
When I was a kid, I loved the movie “Beyond the Reef.” With a mask like this, I too can go beyond the reef! If and when I get to a reef and get the guts to actually get out into the water.
