Human Penmanship, AI Art, and a Fantastic Flower
Five interesting tidbits for your heart and mind
Greetings, human!
We’re in an odd time in history as we toggle between DIY humanity and AI technology. How do you feel about it all? Will it make our lives better or worse? Lots to think about.
Here are five tidbits to ponder and share:
I stumbled across this video about handwriting for adults. I, of course, practiced lettering for my comics but didn’t give much thought to my actual penmanship. There are multiple benefits to nice handwriting, not the least of which is aesthetics. We can add beauty to letters, notes, shopping lists, whatever!
A guy wrote a children’s book and had it illustrated by AI. It’s called “Alice and Sparkle.” It is one of many books illustrated by AI. In fact, there’s a whole website devoted to the “genre” (for lack of a better term). As an artist, my gut reaction is disgust. Yet, is there more to it? Here are my thoughts on the matter.
I’m always on the lookout for cool pencils and pens. I heard about this inkless/infinity pencil. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how it works. From what I can ascertain, it doesn’t write all that dark. It also doesn’t erase well. It’s a novelty, for sure, but will we see technology like this replace pens and pencils in the future?
As of a few weeks ago, I had no idea that the show “The White Lotus” existed. Yet, while listening to Spotify, I heard this theme song, (which turned out to be for season two). Jessica and I gave it a shot and it’s fantastic! The scenery is gorgeous, the story is fun, and the writing is sharp and refreshingly woke-free. It has a raunchy bit or two so, if you watch it, do so after the kids are asleep.
Speaking of sleep, how is yours? A doctor once told me that he always buys quality shoes and a quality mattress. He said those two things - our walking and sleeping - are paramount. Shoes are obvious, but I hadn’t given much thought to a nice mattress. That is until our mattress went kaput and Jessica and I were both incredibly uncomfortable. Needless to say, we replaced it with an upgrade.
A new mattress isn’t cheap, yet you are valuable and you should get good sleep. Make it a priority. You’ll thank me at the end of the day.
If you’re so inclined, please leave a comment and share.
As always, thank you for reading. The best way to support my work is to become a premium subscriber. You’ll get my stream-of-conscious zine “Oddballs.” It’s fun, odd, and could be yours every month!
Until next time, keep on keepin’ on!
