Paula Abdul Kisses a Ghost, Michael Jackson's Song Within a Song, and Rocky IRL
5 oddities to ponder and share
Hello, fellow Oddballer!
I hope you’re having an amazing day! This week, I’m bringing you some odd tidbits from the entertainment world - things you may not have known, all from the world of YouTube. Hit the lights and lift the curtain!
As always, links are in bold and underlined. Have fun with those. So, without further ado, here are five oddballs for your eyeballs!
Paula Abdul Kissed a Ghost
According to a YouTube short from the YouTuber Vsauce (@vsause), there’s a story all over the internet about Paula Abdul’s first kiss - to a fictional kid named Michael under a tree. But that story isn’t true. Yet, because it’s been passed around so often, people have, in a sense, made it a fact. It wasn’t a lie, only meant to be a joke, but it sounded so real that folks latched onto it.
Not So Smooth Criminal
Some people’s art is so odd that it’s amazing! The YouTuber ThereIRuinedIt (@thereiruinedit) takes songs and makes them… well, odd. You’ll find yourself laughing for all sorts of weird reasons. For instance, he took all the non-words in Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” and compiled them. Sure, we all hear those non-words, but to hear them without the other lyrics is hilarious!
An Unlikely Entertainer
Sometimes a normal-looking person has supernormal talents. Such is the case with Richard Smith, especially in this video where he plays his arrangement of Scott Joplin’s “The Entertainer.” No offense, but he looks like a guy you might see at the mall or some random Chili’s.
Rocky Got Real
According to a short by the YouTuber known as IYKYK (@ifyouknowyouknowfacts), Sylvester Stallone was having a tough time finding a venue for the fight scene for his movie “Rocky Balboa.” He worked out a deal with HBO to use a venue for an upcoming REAL boxing match and use the actual crowd. Wouldn’t you know it, when Rocky walks in, the crowd gives him a standing ovation… UNSCRIPTED! It was an odd decision that worked like magic!
